AT&T ANNOUNCES $10,000 GRANT TO SUPPORT TECHNOLOGY FOR GREATER TOPEKA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUNDATION
Excelerator Grant Provides Video Conferencing Equipment
The AT&T Foundation, the corporate philanthropy organization of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), today announced a $10,000 grant to the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce Foundation through the AT&T Excelerator competitive technology grant program.
The AT&T Excelerator program helps nonprofits integrate technology into their operations. This grant provides the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce Foundation with technology funding to assist with implementation of a new video conferencing system designed to improve agency operations and provide efficient delivery of training and technical support to participants in the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program and to GO Topeka prospects.
“Technology is a key factor in providing reliable and efficient services to our partners within the Topeka business community,” said Doug Kinsinger, President
and CEO of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce. “With this support from AT&T, our administrators, staff and clients will benefit from the best technology and training available.”
The Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce unveiled the new video conferencing system with a Friday morning technology link that included a chat with U.S. Representative Nancy Boyda, who was in Washington, D.C.
“Small Kansas businesses shouldn’t lose the chance to grow and learn just because a conference or training program is thousands of miles away,” Rep. Boyda said. “This grant brings a whole world of opportunities right here to Topeka.”
“Technology plays a vital role in the success of community service organizations,” said Dan Jacobsen, President, AT&T Kansas. “I’m proud that funding from AT&T can help the Topeka Chamber better serve our community.”
Since 2002, the AT&T Excelerator program has provided more than 2,500 technology grants — totaling more than $47.8 million — to organizations across the country. In 2007, AT&T awarded $9 million in Excelerator technology grants to 680 nonprofit organizations across the country.
In 2006, AT&T Inc. and the AT&T Foundation contributed more than $101 million to nonprofit organizations across the country. With its strong giving record, the AT&T Foundation ranks among the most generous corporate foundations in the United States.
