Americans for Prosperity applauds effort to give Kansans better access to government spending, encourages lawmakers to approve legislation putting the transparency act into statute
The state of Kansas today launched KanView, the new government transparency web site. Americans for Prosperity-Kansas state director Alan Cobb said KanView is an important step toward making it easier for Kansans to find how their tax dollars are spent by the state.
“This site is an essential tool for Kansans who want to hold their government accountable,” said Cobb. “We hope lawmakers will see the value in the site and will vote to make this a permanent resource for Kansas taxpayers.”
The site was created by the 2007 Legislature, and lawmakers are currently considering legislation to put last year’s provision into statute, making the online database permanent.
Cobb praised Kansas Secretary of Administration Duane Goossen and the state staff who helped to build the site.
“Many thanks to Secretary Goossen and his staff for working so diligently on this project,” said Cobb. “Their efforts are to be applauded, and hopefully all Kansans will benefit from their hard work.”
