New Barbecue Themed Restaurant Coming to Southeast Topeka

Silver Fox Ventures, LLC is pleased to announce the signing of a lease in Southeast Topeka to launch its new barbecue concept, APPLEWOOD BBQ & BISTRO.  The restaurant will be located in the new retail center north of Lake Shawnee, near 29th & Croco.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to offer residents this new concept in an area that has historically had limited retail and restaurant development” says co-founder Ross Leon, a long-time resident of the Shawnee Heights area. 

In addition to offering foods traditionally found in other barbecue restaurants, APPLEWOOD BBQ & BISTRO will offer menu items that broaden the interest in smoked meats.  “We’re working closely with U.S. Foodservice to develop an exciting and innovative menu that will appeal to a cross section of guests”, adds Ross Leon.  “Our slogan is “Re-de-fining Barbecue” and we’re building a platform to change the perception of barbecue restaurants.”

APPLEWOOD BBQ & BISTRO will employ a quick casual delivery concept, building on the growing trend of customers that have limited time for dining out.  The quick casual dining concept, in fact, is the fastest growing segment in the restaurant industry today.  More and more people on the go are turning to restaurants that offer fast service in an attractive, comfortable and engaging environment. 

The opening is slated for May 2008 with plans to expand the concept to other locations.  Future development efforts include focusing on the Midwestern states of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma and Nebraska.  “The absence of a national barbecue chain in the market provides an opportunity to establish a successful, growing regional operation”, added Leon.
