Cub Scout Adventure Day: Cub Scouts Get Their Day in the Sun
On October 13, Cub Scouts in Jayhawk Area Council will have the opportunity to bring their friends and family to Camp Jayhawk at the Falley Scout Reservation, for a free day of Cub Scout fun and activities.
“The Jayhawk Area Council wants new Cub Scouts and their families to get a chance to come to Camp Jayhawk and experience a little of the fun and excitement that they will get to be a part of all year round,” said Scout Executive, Jeff Moe. Cub Scouts along with the families will have the opportunity to do crafts, hike trails, shoot bows and arrows and much more.
Another incentive for the new Cub Scouts is the chance to bring friends that are not yet a part of Cub Scouting. Each Cub Scout that brings a friend that signs up for Cub Scouting will earn a recruiter patch (pictured) to be worn on their Cub Scout uniform.
The opportunity for Cub Scouts to attend camp for free is a fairly recent development. “It makes sense to give these boys and their families a chance to get to camp right-away. It also serves to get other kids involved early in the school year,” said Chuck Sexson, Vice-President of Membership for the council.
