Beauchamp’s Warms Up January with COLOR
Kansas in January………….. It’s cold. It’s colorless. It’s dark. It’s still. It’s hard………… It’s cold.
Says Beauchamp’s Gallery owner Bob Swain, “For our first show of the year I wanted to exhibit art inside that contrasted to what was happening outside. This time of year, people gravitate to glowing fireplaces, hot cups of soup, and warm colorful quilts. My goal was present art that provided some of those feelings of warmth and light and color.”
Swain tapped two artists to fulfill that task; Diane Lawrence and Mike Savage. Lawrence, whose work has been presented in galleries throughout the Midwest, maintains a studio in Berryton. Her art is dominated by floral images and depictions of colorful fish. For Diane, these are “forms that radiate vibrant color and energize her soul”. Lawrence is a master of both watercolor and silk painting mediums. She utilizes the white of the paper and the shimmering quality of the silk to infuse light and life into her work. The art of Kansas City artist Mike Savage is just as vibrant. He paints mostly with colorful acrylics using strong pure color and bold brush strokes. One can’t help but smile when viewing his exaggerated landscapes and still life paintings. And the warmth of his imagery is especially welcome…. in January …… in Kansas.
Beauchamp’s will open the show entitled COLOR, with a reception for the artists during the First Friday Art Walk on the evening of January 4th. The public is invited to stop by, meet the artists and soak in some of the warm feelings generated by this colorful exhibit. The show will run through February 13th.
