Custom Tree Care, Inc. was started by Greg Gathers in January 1999, offering tree and landscaping services in the Topeka area while he attended Kansas State University. 

“In 2005 I began to work on the business and not in the business, delegating tasks to employees and making sure that they completed them correctly,” Greg says. “This allowed me to shift some of my time away from operations and really focus on growing the company.”

His efforts at growing the business have paid off. The company has experienced 809.1% growth over the past three years, earning Custom Tree Care the distinction of inclusion in this year’s Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing privately-owned businesses in the U.S.

“We invest heavily in employee training and safety programs. All of the equipment we use is top notch and designed for tree work. Our company is one of the few in the area that has ISA as well as state certified arborists on staff.”
